The Que Huong - Liberty Hotel chain wins two favourite hotel-restaurant prizes
At an award ceremony on January 23, the Que Huong - Liberty Hotel chain bagged two important prizes, namely the first prize among five hotels and second prize among five restaurants. Every year, these prizes are given to top names among travel services, hotels, restaurants, airlines, trade centers and transport services by the HCM City Tourism Department and Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper.
The Que Huong - Liberty Hotel chain has grown out of the Liberty Hotel, one of Saigontourist's affiliates, established at 167 Hai Ba Trung St. District 3, HCM City , in August 1984. In July 1985, Liberty Hotel officially became the Que Huong - Liberty Hotel chain. Then in September 2004, each Que Huong - Liberty Hotel turned into the Que Huong - Liberty Hotel. The hotels and their restaurants are:

  • Que Huong - Liberty 1 Hotel.(167 Hai Ba Trung St., District 3, HCMC), a three-star hotel with 52 rooms, one restaurant, one dancing club. Customers are impressed with the Que Huong 1 buffet program at the Que Huong buffet restaurant.
  • Que Huong - Liberty 2 Hotel (129 Ham Nghi St., District 1, HCMC). This hotels was Vinh Loi Hotel. It is a two-star hotel with 31 rooms, a restaurant, Polo bar and a massage center. The Champagne Restaurant is a well-liked dining place.
  • Que Huong - Liberty 3 Hotel (187 De Tham St., District 1, HCMC), which used to have the name of Hoang Tu (Prince) Hotel, is a two-star hotel with 60 rooms and a bar. The AllezBoo Restaurant and Bar is frequented by many local and international customers.
  • Que Huong - Liberty 4 Hotel (265 Pham Ngu Lao St., District 1, HCMC), which was Hoang Vu (Global) Hotel, is now a three-star hotel with 71 rooms, a restaurant, Lido Bar and a massage parlor. In January, the Que Huong - Liberty 4 Hotel received the ISO 14001 certificate.
  • Van Canh Restaurant (73 - 75 Pham Ngu Lao St., District 1, HCMC). It became a member of the Que Huong - Liberty Hotel chain in October 1998 and is now a center for wedding parties, with 1,200 seats and modern facilities for wedding ceremonies and receptions.
  • Que Huong - Liberty 6 Hotel (177 - 179 Le Thanh Ton St., District 1, HCMC), which had the name of Tan Loc Hotel until December 1999, is a two-star hotel with 37 rooms, a restaurant named César, a bar and a massage parlor. In 2001, Cleo Beauty Salon was born to be a pioneer of its kind.
  • Metropole Hotel (148 Tran Hung Dao St., Dist.1, HCMC), joined the Que Huong - Liberty Hotel chain in March 2001. It is a three-star hotel with 75 rooms, a center for wedding parties and conferences, a bar, a health center and an outdoor swimming pool. It received the ISO 14001 certificate in January 2005.
  • Thanh The Restaurant (5 Nguyen Trung Truc St., Dist.1, HCMC), is in the Thanh The Plaza, a jewelry center.
  • Go2 Restaurant (187 De Tham St., Dist.1, HCMC), is designed to serve young people, especially backpackers.

The Que Huong-Liberty Hotel chain has a total capital of VND 110 billion. According to a member of the board of directors, the company looks set in its business direction and development process, which wins solid confidence among shareholders.

Since 2004, the company has always made good profits with a year-on-year increase of 10%. The room occupancy has been 85% and above. Room prices have increased 12%. Dividends have been more than 12%.

The company focuses mostly on upgrading facilities and services. For instance, at the Metropole Hotel, a new conference center is being set up on the second floor, and at the Que Huong – Liberty 4 Hotel, a lounge is being built on the first floor. The Que Huong Restaurant of the Que Huong – Liberty 1 Hotel has been upgraded to serve lunch and dinner buffets.

In 2005, the Que Huong Hotel chain was known for its blooming food services. One of the most successful profitmakers was the Cesar Restaurant of Que Huong – Liberty 6 Hotel, with stunning food services like dishes made from ostrich eggs and meat, clam rice soup, precious sea snail spring rolls, and more. At the Gio Noi Restaurant, Vietnamese seafood dishes, porridge, hot pots and rice cooked in clay pots are known to many gourmets. At the L’Orient Restaurant, the Buffet Lau (or seafood hot pot buffet) was very successful. Van Canh Restaurant is well-liked for its vegetarian buffet program in the first and seventh lunar months every year.

“We now have to make bigger efforts to diversify dishes and upgrade our food service quality to attract more customers,” a member of the board of directors said.
